A delicious recipe for Pumpkin Spiced Sweet Potato Spirals, perfect for a snack or appetizer, featuring mashed sweet potatoes flavored with a homemade pumpkin spice blend and then fried until crispy.
Start off by making the pumpkin spice by combining 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger and 1/2 teaspoon of allspice in a bowl. Peel and boil 2 pounds of sweet potatoes until soft. Transfer them to a bowl and mash them using a potato ricer, or masher. To the bowl of potatoes, add the pumpkin spice and mix it well. Transfer the potato mixture to a piping bag or freezer bag. Squeeze out a spiral shape on a piece of parchment paper. Heat 2 cups of cooking oil to 375 degrees F. Add the potato spirals and cook for 2 minutes. Flip the potato over and cook for another 2 minutes. Season with salt and enjoy.
